Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about waxing treatments, preparation, aftercare, and what to expect.
Does waxing hurt?
Some discomfort is normal, especially during your first wax, but most clients find it manageable.
I use professional techniques and high-quality wax to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
I wont lie to my clients, Waxing can be uncomfortable for some, however everyone’s pain threshold is different. The discomfort you may feel on your very first wax will become less and more manageable the more waxes you get, due to the hair thinning and there becoming less hair to remove from the area.
How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?
Please ensure the area is clean and dry. Avoid applying lotions or oils on the day of your appointment.
Hair should be at least ¼ inch long for best results.
How long should my hair be?
For the best results I recommend 4-6 weeks hair growth after a previous wax and around 3-4 weeks after a previous shave. The hair should be no shorter than 5mm.
How do I avoid ingrown hairs?
To help prevent ingrown hairs I always recommend gentle exfoliation 3 times a week and moisturising with a non-scented moisturiser every day. This helps keep the skin soft and supple and allows the new hairs to break through the skin more easily.
Why waxing?
This question has a thousand answers and overall it comes down to personal preference, I have clients of all ages and they all have different answers to why they choose waxing. The results of waxing last longer than that of shaving or hair removal creams and therefore a lot of people prefer it. However, some people feel it makes them feel more hygienic and some its because their partner(s) prefers it.
Can I shave between appointments?
While it is up to you and I cannot stop you, I strongly advise you do not shave between appointments! Shaving makes the skin more sensitive and promotes ingrown hairs, in turn this will cause your next wax to be a lot more painful.
Can I get a wax while on my period?
While you can get a wax while on your period, I would suggest waiting. The skin is a lot more sensitive around your time of month and will cause you more discomfort. I would normally advise getting your wax 5 days before or after your period.
